saud beach, pagudpud for dummies
Barangay Saud, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte is one of the most swabelicious places I’ve ever been. we sure did had a blast when we were there. Nakaka-reset ng spirits.
Located at the northern-most tip of the main Luzon island, it is a 14 hour drive up north from manila and is worth the long ride when you see the shoreline. the sand is fine-and-dandy mocha-whitey golden-grainy.
Since I didn’t find that much info on pagudpud here on the internet, I decided to write my very first guide. I call this entry the pagudpud guide for stupid people (hehe! lambing lang!).
1. How to get to Pagudpud
We rode a bus to get there. I would recommend Florida Lines because they go straight to Pagudpud. Their terminal is located in Sampaloc, Manila, near UST. At P600.00, the fare is pretty affordable for a deluxe bus that has comfortable seats and, believe it or not, a toilet room. The buses usually travel during the night so you could sleep the whole travel time.
Once you arrive to Pagudpud, board a tricycle and ask them to take you to Barangay Saud. They will charge you P50.00.
2. Resorts?
Resorts? No problem pare! Barangay Saud is a blooming tourist spot so there are a lot of beach resorts that has sprung up since it was first discovered. I would recommend reserving for a room before going there during the peak season, which is by the way the months of February – May. We just got lucky we got one from Tessie of Northridge Resort since reservations have been made since January for the month of April. Suwertihan din.
Later in this article, i will be giving my hotel recommendations and contacts.
3. Pagudpud itinerary
There are a lot of beautiful places to visit when you’re in Pagudpud. Sayang we only had 4 days so instead, we just went to the best places. Here’s our itinerary when we were there.
Day 1 – Explore, Explore! Day
- 5 AM, Arrived at Pagudpud. Boarded tricycles to Barangay Saud.
- Checked in at Northridge Resort. Got in our rooms.
- Took a little rest then we thrashed the beach.
- Strolled the shoreline and visited every resort, looking for good bargains.
- Felt good feeling Pagudpud’s abundant energy the rest of the day. (hehe! That was Jux talking.)
- Glutton (as how my girlfriend Sugar would call it). Toma. Doobie.
Day 2 - Turistas Day
- Went to Maira-aira lagoon, dubbed “the Blue Lagoon.
- Went to the Kaibigan Falls. Trekked for at least 30 minutes. Eco-tour astig!
- Glutton. Toma. Doobie.
Day 3 - Lazy-Hazy Day
- Thrashed the beach the whole day.
- Strolled the shoreline again, took pictures of the sunset etc., people-watching.
- Glutton. Toma. Doobie.
Day 4 - Uwian Day
- Woke up, took a bath, packed up and left for Vigan.
- Huhuhu! Cry-cry-cry! Beach hang-ups.
4. Pagudpud Recommendations
Northridge Resort
- It has spacious, air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms and is good for 3-5 persons. Look for Tessie, the owner. Sobrang bait nung tao na yun and very accommodating. Her contact number is 0920-2205089. Rooms are priced at P2000.00/day during the peak season.
Jun and Carol Resorts
- Look for Albert, I think he’s the manager there. His number is 0920-2205089. Rooms are priced at P2500.00/day during the peak season.
Florida Bus Lines
- You can buy your tickets in advance and they have a direct trip to Pagudpud. Fare is P600.00. Contact number is (02) 731-4473.
Engrande Royale Pagudpud Tricycle Tour
- Rene was our guy! You can text him at 0920-8532047. He’ll give you a tour covering The Blue Lagoon and Kaibigan Falls for P400.00. Other drivers would normally charge you P700.00. Panalo na rin sa P400.00 yun!
That’s it. I hope this helps! Here’s our gallery!

sarap magbeach!!!!!
nay, nag-guide for dummies.
April 19th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
Naks! Ipi-print ko to pag pupunta ako dun!
April 23rd, 2007 at 8:50 am
hehe bwiset
May 22nd, 2007 at 9:20 pm
hey! nice review…how much naman nagastos or budget nyo during your whole stay there?
May 24th, 2007 at 7:48 am
hey Toni! when we went there it was the peak season eh, so mga 9k each.
anywho, ‘hope this article would help bigtime. salamat sa pagbisita!
May 28th, 2007 at 8:05 pm
konti lang po ba napuntahan niyongs spots? how long is the tour? ^_^
May 30th, 2007 at 9:33 am
gipit kami sa oras nun eh kaya hindi kami naka-plano ng mas magandang itinerary. but i guarantee you, kaibigan falls and the blue lagoon are the best!
tour? one day is probably enough, that is if you bring food with you. pagudpud is not like galera or boracay where you can find places to eat kaagad. that i think is the downside of pagudpud.
salamat ulit!
June 7th, 2007 at 4:37 am
e sa pagaspas naka punta kana? hehehehe pota d2 na lang ako mangungulit hahahahhaa
September 16th, 2007 at 8:33 pm
hey, is it okay to stay in “normal” beach resorts while youre there? kasi i was choosing btwn saud beach resort and your choice kasi. its the same shoreline right? nice page though:)
September 17th, 2007 at 4:48 pm
karmela: hi ma’am! saud beach resort, i think, is a little more expensive than the resorts i recommended. beach front kasi ang saud beach resort eh, unlike JC and northridge, which are located at the rocky part of the shoreline.
but what the hell, it still is the same beautiful beach.
thanks for visiting ma’am!
March 19th, 2008 at 11:28 am
hi..my family is planning to visit vigan, laoag and pagudpud by car for 3 days..we’re 8 including my 1 and 4 yr old daughters..actually my husband has to meet some people in vigan and laoag sinama na lang kami. saan mas ok for us sa saud or blue lagoon? mmagkalapit lang ba yun? pd bang mag check in kami sa saud then tour na lang kami sa blue lagoon? Pd ba magpasok ng food sa mga resort? like adobo, junk foods, beer etc?
March 19th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
kate: blue lagoon is just like picnic grove eh. im not sure if there are places to sleep there if you want to go overnight. blue lagoon is just 15-20 minutes away from the main beach fronts.
you could probably check in sa saud mismo, then go tour around nalang.
thanks for checking my post out!
March 19th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Hi! You said the trip cost you 9k each, right? What if roundtrip fare and lodging lang, do you think 3k would be enough? My friends and I are planning to stay for 3 days and 2 nights lang naman, and maybe we could bring our own food na lang so we could save money. Hehe.
March 20th, 2008 at 1:06 am
Carla: maybe if you guys are really matipid, 3K…
chongs, 14 hours away from manila yun…
March 20th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
)
March 21st, 2008 at 10:45 am
pwede yata basta pakiusapan niyo na lang si tessie.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:59 am
Hi Gino!
March 24th, 2008 at 10:32 am
lyan: i just haggled with the owner of Northridge Resort, Pagudpud just to bring down the room rates to 2k per night eh. i think 2500 is a good price na rin since Polaris is way better than Northridge.
thanks for visiting!
March 24th, 2008 at 11:28 am
ok, thanks a lot gino!
April 1st, 2008 at 10:09 am
One thing about Pagudpud is that all the bars and restaurants always ran out of cold beer and ice. Meron lang ata less than 10 restaurants dun. Pero maganda naman yun place for a grand pictorial and sunset shooting.
Perfect place for lomolomohan and kodakan to the max.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
question, safe doobie dun? o kelangan ding magsafety (pipe para discreet, hehe)? kasi punta kami bukas, para lam ko kung magroroll ba ko ng madami mamyang gabi.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
420joint: hehe oo naman.
April 11th, 2008 at 1:09 am
yeboy. hasel kasi sa galera, daming undercover cops. thanks.
April 13th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
hi gino.. we’re planning to go to pagudpud this april 17, sa northridge nmin plan magstay, ok lng b dun magluto or magpaluto ng fud? lapit lng b un sa market?
thx
April 13th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
hi cheche!
just ask Tess. she knows some people who would cook for you.
they also have a kitchen where you can cook your own food. during our stay there, i think it was 50 pesos per day.
now, the market. tinanong lang namin kasi yung taga-luto kung magkano aabutin. siya na rin yung pinabili namin.
April 14th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Thanks gino.. sa april 16 n kmi punta fully booked n kc lhat ng resort e..
ganda b sa blue lagoon and kaibigan falls? ok lng b na nka-slippers?
April 15th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
Hi Gino! A mate and I are travelling to Pagudpud come 24-27 April.
On the wee hours of 24 April, I will be arriving in Manila from Sagada/Banaue and my mate is arriving from Thailand.
I am thinking between these 2 options:
1. Take PAL (Philippine Airlines) from Manila to Laoag
Arrival time in Laoag: 11:15 AM
Promo Fare: 2,205 each
Take BUS from LAOAG to PAGUDPUD for 2 hours
2. Take PARTAS BUS (de luxe) to LAOAG at 6:30 AM for 12 hrs.
– 863.00 each
Take BUS from LAOAG to PAGUDPUD for 2 hours
– I don’t know the exact fare
3. MY ULTIMATE PROBLEM:
Choosing between
a. Northridge Resort
b. Polaris Beach Resort
Which is better? In terms of location and the resort itself.
I’ve read Northridge is next to (very close to) Terra Rikka (as in magkadikit lang?) And the pictures of Terra Rikka look really nice. But I failed to see pictures of the place itself (Northridge). But I saw the rocky, sandy beach front which I really like.
Polaris, I’ve seen pictures of it. It’s just okay (hihi). The place looks nice but it looks a bit far from the waters hihi
Which is closer to the waters? And one which has a nicer view?
LOL! This is an ultimate question and answer portion I know. My apologies.
April 15th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
thank for dropping by roy..
Which is better? In terms of..
budget-wise = Northridge (maganda lang ang pangalan. hehe!)
facilities, beach front location = Polaris
I’ve read Northridge is next to (very close to) Terra Rikka…
it is, but you would still have to walk a little, say ten meters, to get to the shoreline.
Polaris, I’ve seen pictures of it. It’s just okay (hihi). The place looks nice but it looks a bit far…
but compared to Northridge, Polaris is much nearer.
hope this helps!

Hi Sir(Ghino), I just need some advice. I love to travel and Im planning to go to pagudpud this July. Im looking for a good clean hotel that have a very beatiful view of the sunset and I can stay late at the night near the beach while drinking light beer/vodka cruiser with my ipod, headphone amplifier and hi-end headphone hmmm. What I want to do is to relax more at the beach, nature tripping and mg MUNI-MUNI. I dont like a crowded hotel my budget per day for room(good for 2 person) is 1500 – 2000. Can you recommend a hotel in pagudpud with this qualities?
thanks,
joey

February 16th, 2009 at 11:26 pm
I am from pagudpud tho because of work i stay here in manila. there a lot of nice pla ces that you could go to if you are there in pagudpud like the 2 falls, the kabigan falls and the one that is in dampig. these 2 falls are really great but you only have to walk more than 1.8 km to reach kabigan and longer walk for the one in dampig but their distance from the main road make them not so crowded. there is also the bat cave in saguigui and from pagudpud you can proceed to adams a former barangay of this town but so far had separated as a town. adams is a mountain town and one of the cultural minority town of ilocos norte and on the way to this town you will experience riding in a motorcycle that would pass several hanging bridges which is really a thrilling ride.
food is not already a problem because most of the resorts there now have their restaurants and there are also kitchette that would cook ilokano food for you and these are along the street near the emtrance of the public or community beach resort.
if you go there during peak season where there are no available rooms in those resorts you can rent rooms in those houses near the beach or what they call home stay which is cheaper for your pocket.
ideally pagudpud is for people who really like serene places but if you are looking for a place where you can have beach and gimmick at night, pagudpud is not your place.
February 17th, 2009 at 12:07 am
Nestor: thank you sir for the hefty info.
‘very much appreciated and thanks for visiting!

March 9th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
That was a nice blog…
My family plans to go to pagudpud on apr17-19.We’d be bringing a car. Are the tourist spots there accessible by car or do we really need to rent a tricycle? And, my mom has difficulty walking bec of her arthritis,do you recommend her joining in the tour to the falls, or we can just leave her spending time at the beach?
To Nestor…can you recommend a place good for 10 persons which is affordable?
thanks!
March 9th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
hi debbie!
tourist spots are accessible by car, you’d just have to ask around for directions. tricycle drivers kasi double as your tourist guide eh so medyo convenient.
the trail towards the falls is just short, but with arthritis? nako i would recommend your mom to enjoy the shorelines.
nestor’s email is nestor_prof@hotmail.com.
thanks for dropping by!
March 9th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
debbie you can go to terrarika or northridge, they have big rooms for big family, contact tessie owner of northridge at 09202205089 or contact lowel the owner of terrarika or in my cousin’s place, for he had build two bedrooms which he also lease on a daily basis and what is good is that the place will be totally yours and you can cook your food there also contact him at 09215522645

March 17th, 2009 at 10:16 pm

April 3rd, 2009 at 6:08 am
tnx gino & nestor sa mga info… =)
pero c nestor, nag-offer nga mag-guide for free pero nde naman give ang contact number.. baka-mapuno ka sa booking! hehehe…. at give din naman nya ang contact number ng cousin nya pero d naman nya give ang name, heheh…
gaano ba ka-early dapat ang booking sa mga resorts dun? fully booked na kaya sila d whole month of may? i plan to go there ng weekdays, maraming guests ba kahit weekdays?
ok din ba sa kapuluan vista, mukhang malayo yata ito at mahal?
i stayed at panzian mountain resort 4yrs ago… nice place din sya, pero i wanna experience saud naman and d white sands sana =)
April 3rd, 2009 at 8:07 am
sir nestor contact details daw!
kakainggit naman kayong lahat! gusto ko din bumalik sa pagudpud!
April 9th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
hi gino and nestor! we’re planning to go to Pagudpud this May, my friend was suggeting Pannzian Resort. May I ask if that’s near Saud? I’m not familiar with Pagudpud kasi. Or it would be better if we stay in the places you have suggested.
thanks in advance!
April 9th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
hi tweet! haven’t heard of Pannzian Resort.
anywhere’s fine as long as their near the beach.
April 11th, 2009 at 3:31 am
hi tweet, ok naman sa panzian mountain resort. nde naman sya as in high mountain ang location. along d road na yung resort mismo. pero nasa slope na sya ng mountain kaya pababa yung terrain ng resort. they have aircon & fan room cottages. u have to walk down the trail a few meters going to the beach area. parang they’re not sharing the beach area with other resort noon when i was there kaya parang private sya. mejo may kalayuan na sya sa saud beach, about 30mins cguro. lampas na sya ng patapat via duct. mejo dark na yung sand unlike sa saud pero nice pa rin yung place. there’s a big rock na parang sa boracay, a small river from d mountain that connects to the sea, and a visible remnants of a ship wreck near d shore, ewan lang kung nandun pa now. accomodating yung resort owner, they also offer tours in d area like going to blue lagoon & kabigan falls etc.
April 14th, 2009 at 12:22 am
hi gino, we’re going to pagudpod this week end ask kolang kung magkano na bus fare ng florida line? working paba yung contact no. ng florida line na binigay mo?
April 20th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
Hi Gino,
Thanks for this post and blogging your Pagudpud trip. Thanks din kay Nestor. The information on this site helped me a lot when we’ve been to Pagudpud last April 13 to 15 of 2009. It was a fun and relaxing experience. We stayed at Northridge. Ms. Tessie, the owner is really accomodating at madaling kausap. She gave us a hefty discount for our 3 days 2 nights stay there kahit na peak season. So make sure to book in advance.
We visited Kabigan Falls, Blue Lagoon, Patapat Viaduct, Burgos Lighthouse, Bantay Abot cave and Bangui Windmill. We hired a Tricycle to tour us around. Meron nang list ang mga tricycle drivers dun ng mga places to go. They charge 600 for the tour. Our driver/tour guide was Kuya Louie.
Here are my suggestions:
Hope this helps.
April 20th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
thanks sharing the experience blitzkrej!
April 22nd, 2009 at 9:22 am

Sa pagpapaluto ng pagkain, how much sa NORTHRIDGE at sa POLARIS.
WHICH IS WHICH?!?!?!?! SAna matulungan naman ninyo ako.

We are planning to go to Manaoag First, Then GO to PagudPud.
We have a Vehicle. We will take off here in Manila 3am. We are group of 10. We want to sleep at Pagudpud. We are in a budget. Is there any other accomodation Cheaper than NorthRidge? Is it Fullybook in Northridge? We will be at Pagudpud March 01,2009.
April 30th, 2009 at 10:21 am
Master Daryl: I think Northridge is the most affordable among the other resorts.
May 1st, 2009 at 1:36 am
anongmas comfortable? ang northridge o polaris?
san mas magandang mag stay
May 4th, 2009 at 8:32 am
Please do not stay at Northridge Resort, our money was lost during the time of our stay. And the owner will not even help you find it.
June 4th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
ATHENA saan nawala pera nyo? loob ng kuarto ng northridge o labas? paano nawala? kasi i know personally tessie the owner of the resort. ngayon lang ako nakarinig ng nawalan don
June 7th, 2009 at 10:54 am
I know where NOT to stay when in Saud Beach. We booked ourselves at Villa del Mar, ignoring the warning signs after reading several negative comments about it.
We paid the downpayment for 2 nights in a family cottage. We’re a family of four and were willing to pay the expensive price of P4,500 a night in exchange for direct beach access, room size and privacy. We got there and yes, the room is big with 4 beds in all, but the bathroom was horrendous. The shower head wasn’t working and there was a pail and tabo to “address that”. The toilet bowl and pail and tabo were not cleaned properly and the bathroom door was covered in mold and broken at the bottom from wood rot.
They had a tv – with only 1 channel. They had a ref – which was busted. All of that is NOT worth P4,500 a night – even if the room is big.
We were determined not to let this ruin our vacation so we decided to check Kapuluan Resort – they took us in on short notice so we returned to Villa to retrieve our things. The people at Villa’s front-desk have ZERO decision making abilities and I think they didn’t want to let us go but I said not to worry we paid for 1 night already and then he let us go.
He didn’t even offer to transfer us to another room. He didn’t offer to call the owners to inform them that they have an unsatisfied customer – he didn’t offer to return my unused P4,500 or even a small portion of it. I couldn’t care less, we just wanted to leave.
Kapuluan Resort was fabulous, and Blue Lagoon Beach is breathtaking but not for those who like a lot of people or noise at night, or don’t like walking (the resort is 7-10 minutes walk from Blue Lagoon).
I have lived on a tent on Mount Banahaw and hidden behind rocks and trees to use the “bathroom”. BUT, if I am willing to pay extra for comfort, I better get my money’s worth. I wrote more about that here:

i believe that there are problems that you will encounter in Pagudpud for hotels and resorts there are not undergoing accreditation by the natioal nor local tourism and i don’t know also if the local government is inspecting these hotels and resorts. But as an advise, before you pay and check in in what ever or wherever that resort is you have to inspect first the room that is assigned or given to you.
those who are planning to go to pagudpud please don’t be discouraged with these problems that you had heard for not all places there are problematic hehehe, some people could attest to this and if you are really looking for a nice place and really quiet try HIDDEN TREASURE and contact Rey Garvida 09105132703 or 09089292806, don’t you worry he will fetch you from the florida station at Centro, Pagudpud, and tell him that i gave you his number. the place is really good for honeymooners, hehehe very secluded.

bubly masyado naman atang maaga ang pagpareserve mo kung sa jan uary ka pa punta pagudpud siguro you can do it a month before kayo punta kung january pero kung mga holyweek dapat two months. saud beach resort is one of the high end resorts in pagudpud e kung kaya ng bulsa mganda don. there are a lot of resorts there in pagudpud that you can choose from and one is saud beach resort kaya lang as i said high end yun.

balak ng barkada nmin na pumunta ng pagudpud kaso after the landslides in baguio parang nadiscourage kmi. tpus naisip nmin sa puerto galera nlang. kso prang gusto prin nmin mgpagudpud. ehe.
so saan ba mas maganda, pagudpud o galera.?
aus lng ba ung daan papuntang pagudpud.?

annchan02: of course, pagudpud.
ok na siguro yung daanan dun, matagal-tagal na rin naman yung landslide phenomenon…

just been to pagudpud 3 days ago, it was just a day stay at arinaya resort kaya mejo bitin. we were in a group tour ng ilocos kaya lahat ng pinuntahan eh saglit lang ang time, we didnt have much time to go around and see other places kaya super bitin talaga. i have been in pagudpud 6 years ago, and have been to places like kabigan falls and blue lagoon, pero still gusto ko pa rin balikan uli yung places na yun… kaya im planning to go back again by summer, pero will make sure next visit would no longer be bitin!
ok naman na yung daan going there, tho there are some areas na inaayos pa rin ang kalsada, pero short distance and konti lang yun, so halos hindi mo mararamdaman, hehehe…
